That's less than 7 minutes per crossword, and in 'exam' conditions!
I too thought it had DM's dabs all over it, peteby and goodgoalie. I was there for Mark Goodliffe's tour de force. He was more than 10 mins quicker to finish than anyone else. The puzzles are certainly a good deal harder than average. So in the last 10 years he's solved 1800 clues all correctly at the speed of light. Astonishing
