i think for some it may be, but others are arrogant and really do love them selves, a few of my exes were like that

Certainly I used to be very arrogant when I was unhappy with who I was. Now I'm happy, I'm much more laid back and flexible in my opinions so I think you've got it in one there Bob at least for some people.

it is interesting that arrogant people often have trouble makin eye contact whilst telling you how great they are! That must say something about them - still, i do sometimes wish i had that amount of confidence.:(

Lack of self esteem. I have met loads of people who are so full of themselves and arrogent.

If you need to tell people you are special...then u aint.

The people Ive met who are like that are generally fat, ugly, not good qualifications, or something else which they feel they need to make up for. Not meaning to sound fattest or ugliest etc.

Therefore they fall into the "look what Ive got" category of people.

I think some are that way when they really believe they are better than you; because of their social standing, or generally full of themself, and their own self importance.
Most of the time it is unfounded.

i have been classed as arrogant in my time, but this is due to me not getting involved in things due to shyness??

but many years later the person who classed me as arrogant apologised after they realised i was just not a bubbley in your face type of person??

Agreeing with rugelyboy - have overheard being called a snob before but its because im shy. Do have opinions, just like to bide my time and be abit careful. Arrogant people are hiding someting and maybe fine once you get to know them or be completely empty shallow nothings covering up for their loss of personality

I think some people come across as arrogant and dont even know it.. For example when I met you on here bob on AB I thought you were very arrogant with some of your answers. I also think people mix up arrogance with confidence much of the time. People are intiminated by confident people and tent to write them off as arrogant or as a b!tch. But no, I dont think in all cases people are arrogant because they dont like them selves... not at all.
