Persian lamb fur coat
3 Answers
I need to know the approx. price of a ladies full-length persian lamb fur coat in the late 30's. Is there anyone out there who lived at that time or anyone connected with the fur trade who would know this please? Sorry if this is not the right site for this question but wasn't sure which one was. Thanks in advance

My Mother bought a new full length Persian Lamb fur coat in 1951 from a major department store and she said it cost 35 then. So ten or twelve years earlier, in the late '30's the same thing would probably have cost around 20-25, taking inflation into account.?
Hope this helps give you some idea of cost, anyway. Maybe someone from the Ancient Order of Furriers will see your thread and reply with exact information!
Best wishes.

Janet, hi,
I've just heard that it was a 'mock' Persian Lamb furcoat that my Mother bought, so not the 'real thing' as I first assumed. Obviously the 'real' Persian Lamb would no doubt have cost more. So my apologies for misleading you in the first place!
However, prices then were very cheap, as you say.
'Bye now.
