OH had a days driving experience for his birthday, we had to go to Long Marston airfield near Stratford on Avon.
He had to be there at 1.00 pm. We decided before that we would go to Leamington Spa to meet up with an old friend from when we lived there.
That was great not seen her for 5 plus years.
Then we set off for the airfield. The satnav we had with us refused to work so we got lost so often it's not true. It's weird when you move away from an area how soon you forget where places are. We moved away about 14 years ago so time and our memories didn't help.
We just made it on time. We were collected from car park by a minibus and driven about a mile to the tracks.
He had to check in and show driving licence and pay insurance waver.
He was due to drive a Ferrari, Aston Martin and some kind of souped up Nissan.
There must have been 100 people waiting to drive accompanied by a pro.
There was about 25 different cars including porche, mclarens, all kinds of cars from films and every kind of men's fantasy car you could think of.
The weather was so cold. We were sat outside for over three hours. I have never felt cold like it. I was shaking uncontrollably.
Anyway he drove the Nissan. The Aston Martin wasn't available so he chose another souped up Nissan, then he drove the Ferrari, that was his favourite, he loved that. He even got a photo taken on one of the laps. He did two laps of the circuit with each. It was so cold he decided not to bother going round the circuit being driven by a pro.
There was no sign of minibus so we set off and walked back to car park. I was in agony as I have all sorts of mobility problems. Luckily minibus picked us up about half a mile in.
We eventually got home after getting lost a few times again.
It took ages to thaw out but both ok after a good day out.
