Fair points NJ but they already have taken on the contract to supply VW. It is by a very long way their biggest customer. Just not possible to keep on supplying the current customer and go out looking for new ones.
The division of the company my sons work for sells 92% of it's output to VW they are VW's 'prefered supplier'
Other divisions of the company are more diverse but still have the EU as a major export destination.
How many major world class car manufacturers are there outside the EU?
Japan, Korea and the USA are the only real possibilities , and they a policy of buying from home wherever possible, The USA even more so now with Trump's America first programme.

This sort of thing does not make the headline news, unfortunately. I fear that many people will succumb to the prevailing snowflake hysteria of 'We're all doomed'.
