Ok, so I know it's me and him, but we much prefer vouchers for something than a present to open which neither of us like.
We've had vouchers for a visit to sipsmiths brewery in London, a really, really fine dining restaurant, membership of the Tate, a couple of nights in a hotel in London, afternoon tea and entrance to Windsor castle, another afternoon tea in central London, a meal at the panoramic in Liverpool.
I'd go with something like that than getting them something 'to open', that's just you wanting that, not necessarily what they would like.
