My father used to spend days painting but couldn't hang wallpaper. My mother couldn't paint but was a dab hand at wallpapering, so between them the decorating got done.
Me? I used to be able to wire a plug but it's so long ago that I've had to do it as everything now comes with pre-fitted plugs that I've forgotten how.
30 years ago, pre Youtube, we built our own house. Only tradesman was a bricklayer, purely for speed. Did night school in plumbing and electrics, had work inspected as we finished each job. It's been great to look at our home and say, we built it. Just sold it and made an obscene profit, time to move on.
