Urgently need advice on which hotel to stay in the Midtown area of New York ie Times Square, Broadway.
Don't want budget/hostel or 4/5 star.
Any suitable hotels I've found seem to have really bad reviews on travel sites.

Would love to hear your personal experiences.

Thanks a lot

We stayed at The Metro on 34th - you could see Empire State from the roof top bar and it was a stones throw from Macys. Thought it was very good, including the breakfasts and a dinner we had in the adjoining restaurant - and so do some of these...http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60763 -d99392-Reviews-Hotel_Metro-New_York_City_New_ York.html
we stayed at the milford plaza in jan 2006, it was ok comfy and clean, and it was only 2 mins from times sq, we went again in june and stayed in the shearton new york hotel and towers that was amazing well worth it!
We had a good experience at the Warwick on 54th Street; just of 5th Ave, very handy for MOMA, Central Park, easy stroll down Broadway to Times Square....
That's "just off 5th Ave"! And if it was good enough for Cary Grant, Irving Berlin, The Beatles and Elvis Presley, then it's good enough for me........!
