What is a Frozen Shoulder?

My doctor said I had a frozen shoulder. He gave me tablets that didn't work. So I had an injection of steroids. That did the trick! Great! But what is a frozen shoulder? Is it muscle damage? A problem with the joint? Is it tendons/ligaments? I said I couldn't see how it was a frozen shoulder because I'd been playing golf. You cant do that with a frozen shoulder can you? Any experts available? I know. Why didn't I ask the doctor!? Cos I just wanted to get rid of the pain, not interview him!
