Where were you and what were you doing when...
Where were you and what were you doing when you heard a big news story that was happening that would, depending on what happened, change the world? No, I wasn't born when John F Kennedy was assassinated, or when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon, so you won't get that on my list, but to start you off, here is a list of big news events that happened in the past and what I was doing at the time when the news broke.
1) Pope John Paul II died on April 2nd 2005:
Answer: Watching Casualty on BBC 1 at home, which featured one of the characters, who was just as ill and couldn't be revived, although the character was a young child and was not as old as the Pope.
2) The Queen Mother died on March 30th 2002:
Answer: Listening to Pick of the Pops on BBC Radio Two, when Dale Winton was playing the top ten of that week of 1984 at home. Depeche Mode's "People Are People" had been playing around about the same time that she passed away, (approximately 3.15 pm), although her death wasn't officially announced publicly by Buckingham Palace until about three hours later when I was watching a repeat of "Steptoe and Son" on BBC 2 and the programme was interrupted with the breaking news.
3) The Twin Towers was bombed in America on September 11th 2001:
Answer: Shopping for a black "deckchair" style director's chair for an upstairs room at the Index Catalogue shop in Nottingham City Centre. I got home at about 4.30 pm to find that instead of the scheduled children's television programmes, on BBC1 and ITV, pictures of American buildings engulfed in a ball of flames and aircraft crashing into them.

September 11th - I was watching TV when the story hit. My dad was in New York at the time and all the phone lines were down, so I spent the next 12 hours watching the news and trying to get hold of him. He was okay, but it was the worst night of my life...
Millenium - in Tenerife on a very depressing holiday. Begining of the end of a relationship.
Eclipse - went to Cornwall to visit family so I could see it properly. Was actually at the Radio One Roadshowat the time - weather was so manky, couldn't see much difference!
I'm not usually miserable, it just seems the only ones I can remember is when I was!

8 The day before the eclipse, I was working at Manchester prison. As I was waiting to go home, a prisoner shouted from his window "Boss, what time is that eclipse tomorrow?" I told him it was about 11:20. He asked "day or night?"
And you wonder why they get caught!
3 For the Twin Towers, I was up a ladder cleaning windows when my wife called me in to see the news.
5 I was on Blackpool promenade with my wife and daughters, watching a huge firework display and listening to some drunken Irishmen singing republican songs!
I dont like to talk about things that have no significance but one topic that has caught my eye and that is the free masons are real they only exsist to creating a one world society and the power they use is that from presidents, prime minister, Generals etc, and every other kind of wealthy person on this planet that creates a society that controls nations goverments and every other known system that we the normal people use, you ask where does it begins. In the very place you least expect your own goverment system, where does it end, when people like you and I dont talk or mention anything about a society or goverment that does'nt exsist BUT IT DOES want to know more about a corrupt system or societies, goverments secret establisments email me back and lets spead what these people dont want the world to know.
