Weather was good over in iceland, it rained on thursday. On friday my vacation was spoilt. I slipped on some ice outside my hotel and cracked my head open on the driveway. Spent friday night and saturday morning in hospital. Arrived home the next day to find a large medical bill waiting for me. Should i have had a medical bill? After all i only cracked my head open, its not like i broke my back.

I had about 12 stiches in my head, and i've been told that after a few more days i should be going to an english hospital to have them removed.
john - I had holiday insurance but according to the insurance company that insurance package only covers head injurys that were acccidental. They claim i should have been looking were i was going. I might try a personal injury claim.
abroad you will be charged for eveything including treatment, that means the bed, food etc just like you would if you were in an english private hospital. a personal injury claim would be more than likely be very difficult to do due to the fact that it was abroad and you probably not the first person to fall due to weather conditions in a country like iceland.

Thank you arwenant, i won't bother putting in a claim. I guess it was my own fault. Afterall, insurance doesn't cover bad luck.
