Is it possible to limp about (in great pain) with a broken hip for over a week?

I'll start again! This blessed site never lets me type anything no trouble elsewhere.
My hip gave way completely and went to minor injuries who said it was a pulled muscle in buttock. Could not weight bear at all. Crutches and wait. No xray. 6 weeks later lot of pain Dr sent for xray. Fracture at top of femur and hip gone. Been on crutches for 9 months waiting for "urgent" hip operation.
Do chase this up if need be as I think they should have given you an xray.

I think you should have had an x ray as well which is why I asked. My Mum was told she had pulled a muscle and she had a fractured pelvis (not that I`m saying you have one of course). With a note from the doc, you can usually just walk into an x ray department without even needing an appointment in a lot of hospitals these days.

Thanks all. I think I should've been x-rayed OH has said if it's no better by Wed he will take me to A+E. Shutting the shop!! Unheard of!

Good idea. I should have done something sooner then I probably wouldn't have been waiting about so long for something to be done.
All this happened 3 weeks after husband's funeral. Not a good year.

Bathy - hope you are feeling a little better today. Another place to look would be Gumtree. There are probably loads. Mine is Polish lady and is like a whippet. Where it would take me hours - she has it done in minutes - then I have more work for her.

The cleaners are busy since I asked her to come and do my windows too and she was booked up until 16 December which I think is Sat. Bye Bathy

Third time lucky. I hate this site. Always stopping for "long running script" some such rubbish then you have to type all over again.
This is my last try - if I make it.
When you are on your own you just have to get on with it I find. Gardening, shopping etc. I think I told the consultant too much as he thinks it is great that I mow lawn with crutch in one hand and lawnmower in other. I am own worst enemy - never ask for help.
I give up now. Fed up trying to type here.

sorry you're crying Bathy but maybe after a good cry - you will buckle up. it is all the things you have been through the last year and so it is natural. I haven't cried when I was knocked down etc and I can't believe it as my friends call me "Tiny Tears" when I get an Xmas card from friend she signs it to Tiny Tears. Cheer up Bathy. xxxxx

if Dr S says it occurs then it does
but by golly it has to be rare.

and yes if it is you Baths - you DO need assessment
and why have you waited six days ?
so totter / stagger down to an A+E - I think your nearest is North Manchester General or poss Oldham General

given your medical history they wont say your'er pretending

Bathy - I had to get an x-ray with my arms about 2 weeks ago. I'd just been with doctor who immediately gave me a letter for the x-ray. So I am thinking with a doctor's letter I'll walk in - no I didn't walk in - loads of people there with their doctor's letters but the wait was only about 2 hours. Get moving Bathy xxxx
