Ahh Mikey, fascinating!
" He said that's strange, because when my mum got Alzheimer's .. she started talking as if she'd had another baby, and would talk to me like I was that baby"
An interesting and very sad story.

He'll never know who left him and why.

I wish him well and hope he will enjoy his new found family.
alba, he found out but too late.
"A handbag?"

Not even that, just a box. But in the end he did have parents who brought him up, and has a family of his own, so he's done okay out of life.
my apologies Ele, I read that it might have been potential adoptive parents who had left him and not his birth mother.

Irrespective, it's very sad and took such a long time and hard work investigating.
Did you watch the video alba, what a smart looking man he is!
its a long read but well worth it, an amazing story..
emmie, he has the eyes of his father.
don't know, but its quite incredible how much they had to dig down in the archives, and how much it has cost him in time, money, trouble.
6 pics down emmie, yes a brilliant bit of detective work!

Very interesting story, but with a bitter-sweet ending, as he still isn't sure exactly why his parents left him in the box in the first place.
I doubt he ever will be. Just one of the many mysteries of life and you have to deal with it. As I said, he's done okay.
Fascinating story, they certainly have more information than they had before, as to why - well perhaps in the end that's best left.

His Canadian father just about to go back to Canada, and perhaps money was so tight in those days, his mother saw no other option.

I have a good friend, in his late 60's, who was told on his 13th birthday, that the person he thought was his Mum was really his Grandmother, and that his older sister was really his Mum. His Mother/Sister had a relationship with a German POW, in Bath after the war, and the shame of that was so great, that the family though that the only way out, was this extraordinary concoction of the truth.

I have heard similar stories from other sources.
What an amazing and sad story. Cracking bit of detective work too.

I helped a good friend of mine trace his birth mother. That was quite an eye opener when I discovered what I did.
