I sent six cards this year, to elderly people, and one with a voucher in. Out of those six, two are family. The rest of the family I'm in touch with through out the year anyway, no need for cards.
In our previous house for the first six years we got a card addressed to a name we didn't recognise 'love from Mum'. No idea what happened after that but they stopped.
We have a large wall-mounted bookcase, closely packed with.....books.
The "back" part of the cards are pushed between books, leaving just the front facing forward....and glittery ones are kept away from the computer!
Every year I say that I am not sending cards, then they start dropping on my mat behind the door, so then I feel guilty and go and buy some cards, no problem with that 20 cards for £2 then it costs £11.20 to post the bloody things.
I staple mine to a ribbon about 1.5 inch wide. Then tack the end to the top of the door frame. With bits of blue tack holding it in place all down the side of the door.
I have two doors in the lounge so I can get four strips down the sides. I can also do the same down the centre of the door panels.
