Drug Addiction And Rehab

Hi everyone. Merry Christmas.

We have a drug addict in the family. It's getting out of control and we need to get him help. Problem is the clinics cost alot of money and so we need to find one that is free or a small cost. Please tell me what I should do, and where Is best to go initially to get the ball rolling. Thank u.

first of all - is the addict wanting to become 'clean'?

thirdly - contact local council, I know due to cutbacks you may have to wait for a conversation with a person.

Before you can do anything he/she must accept that they need help and agree to go to counseling or to a clinic. You can't force them to go.

Don't buy drugs for them
don't give them money
Do they want to clean up?
If they do see their GP with them

GP would be the first place to start. They will advise what services are available.

self referral via GP.with emphasis on the self... a good family support system is invaluable too...but it has to come from the user to stand any chance of success..best of luck Phleb...hope you and the kids are well xx

Google your town and drug and alcohol addiction support. Most towns have a Drug & Alcohol Addiction Team (DAAT).

Thank you all. He has admitted he has a problem, and wants me to go to the GP with him to ask for a referral to a drugs rehab centre. He has heart problems and also has a stent. He is up and down with his mood, and come Monday, he may not be so willing. He will lose his life and his family if he continues this. Murraymints, thank you, we are all fine thanks.
