Very iffy May Fayre (once a year event) "Heard" because Mayfair on a monopoly board is just about as far away from "The Strand" as you can get. (Only Old Kent Road and go are further away)

1. (Nelson) Piquet
French spades (playing card suit) are "piques"
But it has 7 letters

I think you may have meant PICQUET which is brilliant and has seven letters. I am relieved to find that it's an alternative spelling for the game of Piquet.
I hope you may be able to help with the other one" Heard once a year "etc. and that means that I can relax. Thank you so much.
You're too generous - I was thinking of the racing driver and not the card game
bow bells? can't think of anything else

JJ that is so devious it just has to right. Even if it wasn't I would question the setter, not your answer! I can now relax. Thanks again for your inspiration.
I wish you luck, and I hope it is right. You have more confidence than I do.
