No. Supermarkets face a probable fine for doing so
..it is illegal to sell products once the "use by date" has expired, although I think you can still sell "best before" items at a reduced price....
It is illegal to sell any item which is out of date, regardless of whether it is perishable....
You cannot even give it away or have it on display for sale.
Perishable or 'high risk' goods that have a 'use-by' date are not safe to eat once their date has passed.
With 'best-before' dates it's usually the quality of the food that has deteriorated rather than the safety.
You may sell foods past their 'best-before' date but you should point out the expired date to potential customers

This is a shop that I bought a few things from on Sat then noticed that all three items I had bought were passed there best before date - but there was no signs stating this is the shop.
...contact your local health authority...and keep your recipt as proof of purchase...
A product may be sold past its "best before" date. That in itself is not an offence. As stated prior, "best before" dates are on long life low risk products and thus there will be a gradual reduction in quality after the BBE expiry. Tins of food can be perfectly safe and satisfactory to eat years after the BBE date.
The offence is committed if the product has deteriorated to such an extent that it is not of "the nature, quality or subsatnce demanded by the consumer".
Thus if it tastes "off" or stale or flat, etc then an offence is likely to have been committed.
Shops should know not to gamble with BBE dates.
You cannot EVER sell past a "use by" date.
