I have tried and he, either cannot or, refuses to understand the uncomfortable truth. In reality the horseshoe theory is probably the closest analogy of what is blindingly obvious to most level headed thinkers. It asserts that the far left and the far right, rather than being at opposite and opposing ends of a linear political continuum, in fact closely resemble one another, much like the ends of a horseshoe. Proponents of the theory point to a number of similarities between the extreme left and the extreme right, including their propensity to gravitate to authoritarianism or totalitarianism. Of course this is poo pooed by people on both ends of the political spectrum who oppose being grouped with those they consider to be their polar opposites. Well they would wouldn't they.
Another though......just as in a horseshoe magnet opposites do definitely attract. Which may go some way towards explaining Mikey's obvious fascination with all things far right. He likes to appear to have almost prescient insight into the workings of the far right but strangely no perception of the mirror image Marxist left.
