Tatties in Cambridge (jacket potato cafe) do a chiili that they say ha s 27 different spices in. I can't find a recipe that has more than two or three. Does anyone know of such a recipe?
I don't know of such a recipe...however I am becoming increasingly annoyed with all this "bigger is better" "more is better" kind of attitude that everyone has these days.
27 spices in a chilli?? My girlfriend is mexican, the Chilli dish is part of everyday cuisine there, 27 spices is just stupid! Stupid for the sake of being stupid!
Nah, sounds to me exactly what Chappers said - just trying to sound impressive. No chilli needs "27 spices". I've just run through in my mind what an average chilli might contain and I'm hard-pressed to get to 10 ingredients overall, let alone just spices. With something like a chilli you just need a handful of very good quality ingredients well-prepared and you'll have yourself a decent chilli.
Went in there today and I got it wrong it has 14 spices not 27 (my mistake) anyway thanks for your comments just wanted to check that the recipe I was using was right and from your replies it seems that I am. I thought 14 spices seemed a lot and couldn't fathom out what they could be.
There's is very nice by the way if you are ever in Cambridge you should try it. Thanks again for your answers.
