Vinyl Flooring in your living room.

A few years ago, I would have thought this was a monstrous idea.

However.......................................

I am not talking about a cheap roll of lino, but a proper scratch proof, non-slip 4 mm thick vinyl about �30 per square metre. The patterns have also come on leaps and bounds in recent years.

So my question. Would this be hideous in a living room?

I am thinking of a neutral colour with some nice rugs.

Think of the advantages

1) No stains
2) No hoovering (as a broom will be used)
3) No wear and tear
4) More hygenic
5) Less bugs and spiders as they live in the sh4g
6) Warmer than natural wood

I wouldn't have it, but I know people are using it for living rooms. Not to mention the fact that I saw a property developer on TV this morning, use a tiled design on his bathroom walls!!

Amtico is award winning though, and guaranteed for many years. You should really go and see it before you decide, it is well worth the money. I think there is a cheaper version called Karndean which is also very good.

Perhaps if you spend slightly less you could splash out and get your own SMEG in the corner :)

I already have a newish fridge freezer, so I shall remain smegless thank you.

The vinyl I have seen was in Allied Carpets. In fact they have more vinyls nowadays than carpets.

You should take a look at Amtico floors - they are vinyl but look like wooden floors and last for years.

I have had Amtico flooring and you cannot beat the quality and durability of it compared to other vinyl floorings (which can tear). It is expensive if you pay a professional to lay it, but my boyf and I did it ourselves (very easy to do) and saved loads of cash. When we sold the flat that hard the flooring in, we got stacks of compliments from prospective buyers about the flooring, and we achieved full asking price � so I think it was worth the extra.
