Happy Holidays ---Humbug!!
29 Answers
Did anyone see the street interview with the girlfriend of woman who was killed in Beirut?
She said how she (the victim) was just about to go back to England on leave, "and I had just said, 'happy holidays' to her".
Do you find that maddening, sickening or don't you care?

The question is about the use of 'Happy holiday' as a replacement for 'Happy Christmas'. The context from which it was gleaned has nothing at all to do with that question, and by trying to conflate the two, you and others are being either mischievous or stupid.
Asking a question about say, a journal's crossword puzzle, has nothing at all to do with what is being reported on the front page.

You conflated the two in your OP, but whether that makes you mischievous or stupid is debateable. If you wanted to ask the question, why not just ask the question? Pretty tasteless post. The objections here are justified.
Incidentally, I'm happy to say 'Merry Christmas'.

To me it would make more sense if you were complaining about it being the other way round.
After all when I, as an atheist, wish someone 'Merry Christmas' I'm being somewhat hypocritical by acknowledging a religion that I don't believe in. Perhaps it would actually be better if I just said 'Happy Holidays'?
