I need some help - I've been offered a job within a small accountancy firm in SW London and have accepted. I am due to start in the next week or so and have not signed a contract.
However, on the other hand i still have a 2nd interview with a top 10 firm later this week.
Therefore i need some help - the help i need is what if im successful at the top 10 firm in the city n am offered a job there? Do i still have a contract with the small firm as i sent a letter saying it was fine to start within the next week? Will it become void if i send them a letter giving them an excusing or do i still have to take up that contract? Im confused and need some help.
p.s THere is a wage difference of almost 10k and the benefits are slightly better at the city firm.
As I understand it, as long as you have not signed any contract binding you to the small firm for any amount of time, you are a free agent. I like the way you're playing this; good for you. Many people get into a moral quandary when it comes to employment. If you get the city job, then go for it; again, as long as you have not signed anything, you are quite within your rights to leave whenever you want.
