Washing-Up Bowl Wanted
11 Answers
Should be easy, I know, but we want to replace our old bowl which is large, round, and DEEP, and might be ABN make. (Sprung a leak!)
All today’s bowls are too shallow or square for our sink.
Any ideas?

Without wishing to hijack the thread, I can't resist the opportunity to ask a question about basins within kitchen sinks.
Why do people use a basin within a sink which itself does not leak and then basins that are chosen because they match the size of the sink so closely that they virtually fill it ? And having done this, why is there not a basin within the basin, and another again.......just like the Russian dolls within dolls ? Or is it just because grandmum's mum used to when it was a porcelain sink that was cracked and leaking during the war ? I have never understood and consequently, when asked, have never been able to explain this to the best of my knowledge uniquely British phenomenon (foreigners are distinctly bemused).

Agreed Karl, I think I remember reading that in post ww1/2 wars many sinks were broken hence the need for a waterproof recepticle but in this day and age of large intact sinks I fail to see the benefit but just see the negative of making a smaller wash space and then having to then wash out the bowl unless people like to leave their sinks brand new and still with the plastic on like some people do with their couches.
Karl, that's a fair question - I prefer a bowl because of years of being halfway through washing up when another couple of cups with a mouthful of tea left in or glasses with juice etc, you can pour them down the gap between bowl and sink.
Or someone needs a glass of water, you can let the cold tap run , again at the side of the bowl.
