Gps’ Targets. Where Do I Find A List?

I’m interested in seeing a list of GPs’ targets, i.e. how much they get for reaching what targets.

Is this published anywhere? I think as citizens and taxpayers we should have access to information like this.

Islay: glad you're happy. I'm not, particularly, and anyway to repeat, as a taxpayer and citizen, I think it's the sort of information we should know. I don't want ANYONE to be underpaid, particularly not health workers, but neither do I want anyone to receive massive sums just for ticking boxes!

The link you gave, bednobs, is very interesting, but what it doesn't tell you is details.
For example, how many flu jabs must a GP give to reach his/her target, and how much in money do they get for that target?
I'm interested in knowing just how much a 'pro-active' GP can get from targets, as I don't (never have) seen this results-based system as being particularly good for doctoring, or health!

BB, you may have chosen a poor example but many people and experts have been crying out for prevention rather than cure. Consequently a dose of flu or pneumococcal vaccine is a preventive step to ultimately reduce costs.

With my GP you only get the flu jab if you meet certain criteria set out by the NHS - if you don't you have to pay for it.

It's worth remembering that GPs have to pay to access some NHS facilities, so you'd need to deduct their outgoings from what they make from meeting targets (etc) in order to workout what they actually cost the NHS.

For example, it costs a GP £100 to make an initial referral to a consultant.

Sqad: your comment neatly sums up the problem! Information about payments to/from GPs/Consultants/etc seems to be a state secret, unlike information about less exhalted health workers.

Woofy.....I know that you are just answering the question of the OPer, but this whole thread is filled with links to brochures full of endless drivel.
When did we lose the days of GP's just being paid to do their job...i.e to look after patient health on a salary based on the number of patients?

Been having a think and so far as I am aware, targetted interventions go backwards.....ie the GP practice is paid so much per patient which, IIRC varies a bit by age group, and are docked money for failing to reach targets.
