Scrambled Sound
3 Answers
recently got hoodwinked by a thing called WinZip. as I was looking into it I noticed they were asking for money so I discontinued. A bit late it seems as it had installed an icon on my desk top, since then , the sound on you tube is scrambled, so I've uninstalled it and the icon is gone too - but the sound is still scrambled and "gurgely" I don't think its coincidental. Any suggestions ? much appreciad

WinZip is entirely trustworthy software. Winzip has been around a long time so unlikely, if you downloaded the genuine article, to be the cause of your sound issue. Unless the place you downloaded it from bundled other installations with it.
Best troubleshoot the sound issue separately, maybe after checking you didn't install something else recently. Check speaker connections. Check drivers.

With regard to your sound problem, start by checking for anything physical. i.e. if you're using external speakers check that they're properly plugged in. Also check that the volume control on them isn't a bit scratchy. Try using headphones to see if the problem is related to just your speakers or to all sound output.
Then try sounds from a different source (e.g. play a CD or MP3 file with your media player). If the problem only relates to Youtube, try a different browser (or reset your main one). If the problem is present with all sound sources (and doesn't seem to have a physical cause), reinstall your sound driver.
