The late MrG's family all get together for a couple of days at Christmastime......about thirty of us and this year the Yorkshire daughter was hosting......till the snow came and five of us couldn't make it.....
Today is beautiful......every flake of snow....and it was piled high here....has gone...the sun is shining...although my Secret Santa gift seems to be on its way to Devon......
The perfect day to jump in the car and head north....
Think I'll suggest Anne's idea of having our Christmas in June......x
I remember that, Anne.......my ma-in-law told me the bread trick when I had a stuck bone.....seems the bread draws the bone out....maybe...
No, Minty....been a while now since we really celebrated New Year....always did in Corby though....then, for years, we had a supper and quiz night as the kids arrived but I'm much quieter now....will probably knit..... ;-)
Can confirm it has snowed in Somerset in June. M in L and I were running the bar at a wedding in a local village hall and F in Law and my husband were going to run the pub for the evening. We set off from wells on a chiily but pleasant evening and half an hour later, stepped out into 4 inches of snow in the pub carpark! We rushed over to the hall and got the heating on and a huge pan of mulled wine made.
I often wondered why cafes which served fish and chips also provided a plate of bread and butter. I used to think that it was too much carbohydrate but it has probably got to do with fish bones.
