WHAT TO WEAR
We are going to Switzerland at the beginning of March on a train holiday. We will be visiting towns but also going up mountains via railways. Not sure how cold it will be and what sort of footwear needed. Luggage space is limited has have to lift it on and off trains. Many thanks in advance
the temperature in Zermatt, to take one mountain town, looks like being between 1 and 5 degrees daily, with a couple of days' snow. I'd be wrapping up.
Wear your heavy stuff like warm jacket, hiking shoes/ boots. Scarf and gloves. If you get warm on train, you can always take them off. Keep case/ carry on to a minimum.
A bit nippy Switzerland in March, alfie..around 5C days average ..colder up on the mountains..can be minus temperatures at night..would recommend jumpers or fleeces, a warm jacket essential, good, comfortable shoes, perhaps boots, as you will need them if walking a lot....have a great time...:-)
Thermal layers, we took them to Norway last April and they were wonderfully warm. I also took my cashmere polo necks and they were very warm but light.
