I live just 12 miles outside Cambridge and I know the site. It is as said a FORMER Park and Ride site. It has been unused for several years.
Cambridge University want permission to sell it for housing development when it will be worth many million £ . So far permission has been refused, so it has just sat unused until the travellers moved on to it. That is going to make it hard to get permission to forcibly evict them. This may well force Cambridge City council to grant permission for housing and make it easier to evict the travellers, and in the process increase the income of Cambridge University by a few more million £s.
