Dvd Drawer Wont Open

Trying to install new printer from dvd to find drawer wont open on pressure button, Used paper clip in hole above button which opened it OK but it wont play when drawer is closed,

When you say that it "won't play", do you mean that your computer refuses to accept that there's a disk in there or simply that the autoplay function isn't working?

i.e. Have you tried double-clicking on 'Computer', then on the icon for the DVD drive and then on the relevant set-up program?

PS: If that doesn't help, please try turning it off and then on again (using 'Shut down', rather than 'Restart', and waiting for a minute before rebooting) before we go any further. It's amazing how often that can fix things!

Check the belt on the drive wheel has not come off - have seen that happen a few years ago on someones computer at work

If the drive won't open normally that does imply a drive issue, but it'd worth checking the dvd in a different pc/drive, and trying a different dvd in the suspect one, to prove the location of the inability to play fault. I'm wondering if something's got jammed inside causing both the reluctance to open, and inability to play issues.

Go to the manufacturer's web site and download the drivers. Chances are that, even if you manage to install from the DVD, they'll need to be updated anyway.
