I can't think of a better place than somewhere like Zermatt to be stranded for a few days !

as long as Zermatt is well stocked with food and wine...skiing is limited though.

DTC....The Swizz are used to loads of snow, so I don't expect somewhere like Zermatt to cut off for long. I have been there twice in the summer, but never in Winter......the train journey in is spectacular to say the least.
