Do You Mind Your Own Company?

As much as I enjoy seeing friends and spending time with loved ones, I do like to have time to myself.

I generally prefer shopping by myself and even going for a pot of tea, though I'd probably stop short of eating out by myself in the evening. I often wonder what it would be like to go on holiday by myself - indeed a close friend spent 2 weeks by herself in the Maldives.

I have no problem fetching myself a takeaway and having a drink or two by myself whilst waiting.

How about you?

Evening, NoM.....I do love being on my own at times......never bored because I have a workroom where I can get lost......sometimes with the radio but I also adore.....really adore....quiet. Not sure about a holiday alone though a few of my friends are doing that now.....we all hit widowhood the same year.....but maybe that's because their interests are...

I don't think that you would really like to be on your own. You appear to be a sociable person to me
Thanks 237 (sorry NoM don't want to highjack ur thread and will bow out after this)
I think that all humans are social animals but the way that we exhibit that is different. Some do it on line, some do it with families etc. I'm quite content to be on my own in 'real life' and equally content to communicate online if needs be. Back in my prison days I was equally content to communicate by letters/phone calls. That suited me just fine as I'm uncomfortable with prolonged social interaction.
I love my own company. I often encourage Mr A to go out of an evening so that I can chill with my book, wine, chocs. Bliss.

Nightmare scenario
My colleague may have laid there in excruciating pain for hours or even days , before dying
you can get one of those emergency alarms, but I don't suppose most people would bother unless they were already frail or elderly
Bazile or may have died instantly .?
I end up on my own because people can only stand me for a certain amount of time. I bore myself some times.
If alone I sleep or eat or both. Lonely? No. You get used to it.
That nightmare scenario could happen at any age, indeed could happen to anybody unless they are never ever left alone.....and panic buttons are only useful if you are conscious and compos mentis. Having said that, if I do anything risky, eg involving a ladder, I do have my mobile phone on me and charged.
I do like my own company. I lived alone for 7 years. I was never "lonely" though. I had a brilliant time going where I wanted, doing what I wanted and generally pleasing myself. If I had the need for company I could always call on family or friends, but by and large I was happy to please myself. Used to pop into town to some nice restaurants to eat, or for a quick meal at the local pub. Used to meet friends for a week on holiday and then go off touring on my own for a further week.

I live alone again now. I've loved it. The fiance is the same. So it's going to be a massive shock when we move in together - particularly as we both work from home. It's going to be a devil of a job finding a house with TWO bedrooms with ensuites, TWO offices, TWO sitting rooms, TWO kitchens ;)

There are worse problems to have, BM.
You'll find a way that suits I'm sure and it will be fun finding out.
buy 2 semi-detached properties, obviously next door to each other and knock through.

I like my own company but enjoy the company of family when they come home from work.
lol Mamy, I know. It was very tongue in cheek tho. We'll be just dandy. As long as he remembers who is boss ;)
