Photo Books - Recomendations

I’d like to create a photo book of my long distance walk my partner and I did last year - The Pennine Way. It would obviously feature photos but also written content too - not just a few words to say what the photo is of, but more a paragraph or two to paint a picture of each day. I don’t know how many photos or pages yet, I guess that might depend on price, but I’d like it to reflect this challenging walk as much as possible, so the more pages the better I guess.
Points for me to consider apart from price is simplicity/ease of use to create the book. Any recommendations or tips appreciated. Thank you

I created a photo book of photos of my son when he was 40 last year.

I did it with Photobox

I found it VERY easy to create the book.

You register for the web site, upload your photos, then go in to "book creation".

You can then add your photos to the book, then move them around, resize them, add text or delete text, move photos to different pages or change the order and so on. All very easy.

You can also specify the front and back cover photos and cover text, choose the colour, style and design and so on.

It is all very easy to do.

Plus you can change the book as much as you like before sending it to be printed.

You don't have to pay till the end so why not just go the web site and play around (to get some experience).

Also note that you can edit the book, then if you are not finished come out of the web site, then go back to it later and carry on from where you were (you don't lose what you have done), which is very useful.

I did two books for my son (to cover his early life and later life) and found the second book went better than the first as I had learned from doing the first book.

So I suggest going to photobox (or other photo web sites) and "play around" for a while getting the hang of it before then doing your final book that you send for printing.

The more pages you do the more it costs, but I think that is all sorted out in the final cost.

Finally, once you register for the photobox web site you start getting emails and these offer all sorts of "deals" such as money off or free postage etc so look for these deals as they can save quite a bit of money.

I used Huggler. I found it easy to use and was pleased with the finished result.

Few extra things.

It is free to register for Photobox, and free to upload your photos, and free to "create a book" (practice) so you only pay any money at the end when you finally send your book for printing.

So it may be worth registering for a number of different "photo" companies and try them out to see which type of book creation you are happiest with as it is all free (and it is all good practice).

Note I was VERY happy with my books, great quality, lovely hard back covers, good quality glossy paper so no problems at all with the quality.

Thank you tyrrion44. guilbert53, your comprehensive review of photobox is very helpful as are the suggestions such as registering with several photo book companies and practice to see which we find best or easiest. A first hand review from someone like yourself who can also vouch for the quality as well as actual creation is really beneficial. You ought to be getting commission from photobox!! It might be a few weeks before we make a start but I will post an update on how we get on. Thanks again to both of you.
