my son seems to be getting into alot of trouble with his teacher in year 4 (which often goes off sick ) about his behaviour and has now started to answer back and walk out of his class saying he wants to go home, which has resulted in many red points, I have beeen to see the head teacher many times but not a lot seems to be happening ,what should I as a parent and the school be doing about this as they just respond with another detention for three red points in a week .He is now being blamed for things he has not done as he seems to have been labeled as a bad child. however during years r, 1, 2, 3 we had no problems no detentions and no red points at all.

This sounds exactly like when my brother now 17 was in junior school at a similar age, his behaviour changed and he was always feeling sick and having the day off, then one time there was a school trip which he paid for and the BAD teacher said it had gone missing and he couldnt go on the trip, he was so upset and swore the teacher took the money (we were convinced she pocketed it) she was young and vindictive the sort of teacher who always picks on one child and makes their lives a misery, seems often to be boys or the poorer kids, think it makes them feel powerful! anyway as noxumolus said, he was taken out of school and taught at home, which saw a vast improvement to his behaviour and he joined high school in the first year, then came the teenage years...........!!!
they don't seem to be putting any strategies into place only red points and detentions. Asked for him to be moved to another class so that he is away from teacher till end of term but was told as going on holiday for six days, to see how it goes...... then when he goes back for the last week or so they will see what can be done.
what does your son say is happening? It certainly sounds like a poor teacher (there are some about). It also looks like the school may be aware theres an issue with the teacher too. There is plenty the school/teacher should be doing but clearly they aren't. You may decide to wait until september and have a plan with his new teacher. As soon as you know who he's going to you will have an inkling as to whether the problems will go or not. Post as to whether you want to do something this side of the hols as this will dictate the suggestions I have for you.
