Budgies Travelling In Car

Afternoon everyone
I wonder if any of you can help....I am getting 2 lovely young green/yellow budgerigars tomorrow afternoon and have to pick them up from a place about half an hour- 40 mins drive from our home....not too keen to transport them in their large cage, in case they hurt themselves or fall off perches whilst travelling....am thinking to put them in seperate shoe boxes, with air holes all round....with/without soft cloth for them to be comfortable.....do you think this will be okay, with cloth or without or have you any ideas what i can use?
We used to have a pet budgie many years and used a shoe box, when had to transport eg: vets etc but can I use anything more comfortable for these two budgies?
All answers are greatly appreciated...thanks

Preferred couple of buddy males, as would have got a brood of little ones.....
Or Adam and Eve?.....might spark off a row in R&S though :-)

Joey and Chandler....Great shout, Prudie...I like that. :-) x
Eric and Ernie good too, Mazie, but which one of them do I get a pair of mini-glasses for? x
I intend to give them free reign to fly about sometimes, whenever they like, making sure window's are closed sufficiently..it gains their trust whilst training them both and shows them you don't mean then any harm at all initially....I am in the process of making them a outside home made gym, with ladders, swings etc in addition to loads of toys/ bells in their cage.
I've gone budgie mad, i think....looking forward to getting them now and so is my family. . . Trillmendous you could say!..lol

My youngest daughter has decided and gone for the names Lemon & Lime.....I prefer Joey and Chandler or Starsky and Hutch, and Laurel and Hardy, but what do I know!
Their outside play gym is almost as finished and even has a plunge pool (well, a bird bath really! ), parallel bars, a swing, a ladder up and one down, and an assault course even Action Man would be well thappy with.....my carpentry skills have been awoken :-)
