Very sad - a genuinely nice and generous man, as well as a very skillful player. I met him once at an NHS function in Coventry - a lovely chap.

59 is no age at all.

I sang his name from the Brummy Road end at The Hawthorns many a time. An excellent player, and one of the Three Degrees from Albion's excellent late 70's team.

I have met Cyril at a few social events over the years, a lovely bloke that went out of his way to socialise with anyone and everyone.
A legend with a barbecue as well has with a ball.

I seem to remember another black player that was before him who played for West Ham in the early seventies, Clyde Best I think was his name.
