Unauthorised Parking On My Land
I own a small plot of land close to a small shopping precinct. I rent this out to a high st retailers, for their 5 or 6 staff to use as a car park . Even though there are two "private car park " and one "no unauthorised parking" signs erected, staff from other shops continue to park here , sometimes fill the car park before authorised users arrive for work. . I have warned these people they cannot do this, and before now, blocked these cars in , but wondered how far I can go to stop these nuisance people. Council wont let me fix a gate or barrier

Why don't you fit a large chain with a padlock across the entrance, it's not a gate, doesn't need to open outwards or upwards and would make the land only available to those with a key / combination. that or fit a dropping bollard if they will let you.

Get these and give the authorised users keys. You can get locks with all the keys the same so one key fits any of the posts. It also gives extra security against the authorised cars being stolen

any answer is labour intensive
you could don a brown coat, get down there and say - you you and you can park and you other proles cant
but I dont suppose you want to
( actually it is only an hour or two - they come 0800-0830 and then leave 1700.)
is there any letter you can do which will make people do what you want ( not park there in this case) - even tho it would cost them ?
erm not sure about that one

Re my post at 11.43, how wide is the entrance, if you just got 1 pole and put in the middle, would it reduce the width enough to stop people driving round it. It would be more inconvenient for those authorised as they would have to unlock, drive in and get out to relock before parking. But they may be willing if it guarantees their place.
^ yes good idea, get just one pole and a set of 7 or 8 keys to it so there is one for you and a couple of spares. Put the pole right in the center of the entrance.
Then authorised users can let themselves in and out. I would think the minor inconvenience would be worth it for the guarantee of your own space.

Shop manager has had a new sign made, " WARNING.. BY PARKING WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION, YOU ARE IN AGREEMENT THAT YOU MAY BE BLOCKED IN AT ANY TIME.says it seems to be working, probably still illegal though . Noticed that across town , one shop still has a sign"clamping in operation £25 release fee" seems to be working too
