its a good idea, though there are schemes run by the likes of Age UK and i'm sure other organisations that help the elderly maintain dignity and try and deal with the loneliness many may feel

Emmie, Age UK, or Help the Aged, merged I think, were very helpful in fixing grab rails and shower aids etc for me after being contacted by Occ Health, but they had no volunteers or "befrienders" In my town. When I was trying to find a volunteer to drive me to a hospital 15 miles away, only the RVS in another town was able to help me, out of all "charities" I contacted.
