Shoes, Opinions please

Hi All, Mainly for dot, but all answers welcome, I love good quality shoes,leather uppers & soles,they are the first thing I notice on other blokes, I clean my shoes every day although I am a building worker,even steel toe cap boots, I spend an average �150.00 when I buy new ones, I even have one pair that I don't want to wear often cos I like them so much, do dirty shoes put you off people,I think if you have dirty shoes when you go to work (not come home) you aren't fussy about how you look,what do you think? bit long isn't it!!!!

Dirty shoes do not bother me in the slightest. If I saw a man with meticulously clean shoes I would worry that he was 2meticulous" in other areas of life, and expect me to be the same. I am quite messy, and I am sure he would resent that quality in me. So, it would actually put me off!

It doesnt bother me if he has shoes than dont sparkle. I usually have more things to worry about like his personality. Call me a sentimental old fool if you like. Have a nice day ray x

Hi spk,no they ain't gotta sparkle and of course more important things in life,just a little thing,cos I went out yesterday and my shoes felt dirty,no one else notices,just how you feel yourself,i spose, be good, Ray xx

Perhaps I'm just shallow then - but I always look for clean shoes and nice teeth in a man - first things I always look at - (or did before I met Mr. B)

Nice question, Ray... and very 'clean' in the word department as well as the shoe one!

I agree with you. Quality shoes make such a difference, not that there is anything wrong with a cheapy pair for the right occasion, but they have to be clean!

I quite like lived-in looking shoes on a man, a bit scuffed and 'comfy' looking etc., but they must be clean!

first impression counts. but anyone who expects a building or construction worker to have sparkling shoes belongs in a different world. now on the othere hand, if you are out for the evening or some nice occasion and show up with scruffy looking shoes, that reflects badly. it shows you have no amdition or pride in yourself.

i always notice the small details. looking immaculate with dirty shoes makes one look tacky.

It's not just about clean shoes ray, leather that isn't fed will dry and crack or stiffen, especially if it is rained on and then left to dry in centrally heated room. A good leather cleaner helps to keep the leather supple, a very expensive pair of shoes or a handbag, should be looked after with a regular application of leather feed, i do that with my radley bags, they even put a little bottle in it when u buy them.
Also, plastic shoes will last forever and need not be cleaned the same, they are also cheaper, leather costs more and will probably not last as long or wear as well, but it is better for your feet, more comfortable and keeps your feet cooler, they also tend to look good too. leather is a more expensive product but does not wear as well as plastic, but u have to pay for the quality and the comfort.

depends what you mean by dirty - if its clear that they have just walked across some grass and have a bit of mud on them, then thats fine, it happens - if they are practically hanging off, misshapen and ground in dirt, i would think , what else don't they wash? i would also think they were a bit tight, bit to just by a new pair.

also depends what they are doing - going off for a game of footy or about to do some diy, then anything is fine, but on a date or at a restaurant then i'd think they were an eejit if they turned up with icky shoes on

my son''s are 6 and 19 and can clean their own shoes, (daddy was in the army) Polish, water, buff! eldest one is a gothy type now, so doesn't clean shoes no more...:)

I Don't mean sparkly clean.like theyv'e never been worn,but if they have mud on that has been on for ages,I think it is scruffy, I am a construction worker and my shoes get filthy,but I clean them before going to work,just for them to get dirty again, I was the same when I played football,some lads turned up with dirty boots from the week before,that is gross, so maybe I'm shallow,But I do like smart shoes,
