Back-Up

I'm trying to do my weekly back-up from my pc to the external hard drive.I've had no problems in the past but now it doesn't happen with a message "catastrophic failure(0x8000FFFF)Any ideas please? I'm using Windows Vista.

Thanks for your replies.I did a Disk Check and it showed that the "C" disk was at fault and supposedly corrected it.But I still have the same problem. Ohh!ahh

You may have corruption on the C: drive but my gut feeling is that the issue is probably with the external drive. Try it on a different computer.
