Electronic Cigarettes!

Has anyone tried the electronic cigarette? Do you get them with different flavours?Is it a good device or bad!As a none smoker it doesn't matter to me either way but interested how they work!

As a smoker I'm also interested in trying these but not enough to actually buy some. I was very surprised recently on a holiday flight when the usual no smoking announcement included electronic cigarettes and I don't know why.

I haven't tried them but I see them on sale and yes, they come in all different flavours. Not sure why anybody would be wanting to puff on vanilla or strawberry smoke though.... It means you can smoke inside apparently but will see if they too get banned.

Hi prudie,I thought the whole idea of using these was that they were promoted as being able to "smoke" in forbidden areas,but I notice more and more places are now banning them!

If there is no nicotine in this device what is it's purpose,is it just to have something in your hand and go through the motion of smoking!smoking been addictive it will not get rid of the craving!

There is nicotine in them wimp minus the tar and other "bad"things which are carcinogenic in cigarettes I think.

I used them 4 years ago to quit smoking and was very successful. It gives an easy bridge from smoker to non smoker. I used the menthol but they come in all shapes, colours and flavours. I used it for about 3 months and then couldn't be bothered with it and now don't miss either.

I use them and find them OK and helps to give up.
I thinks its the inhaling that I find helpful not just something in my hand.

I dont smoke but know someone who now uses these electronic fags, she is even more addicted than when she smoked ordinary ones and it costs her the same she says, but I agree there is no smell or dog ends so that has to be a plus.

You still get the hit of nicotine which is the chemical a smoker craves, so, in theory you can use them to come off cigarettes all together. They will be minus the tar and carbon monoxide which is clearly beneficial to ones health.
The purpose of them in the long run is to lessen your nicotine dependancy over a period of time, you can get various strengths of electronic cigarette and the idea is to decrease the strength over time. Hopefully to a point where you do not crave nicotine and are unlikely to take up smoking again. My concern is, because people think they are healthier using an electronic cigarette, they will use it more often than they would have smoked oringinally. Therefore their body is getting used to MORE nicotine than before. Which, if they do start up smoking again, could mean they need more cigarettes to satisfy their addiction to nicotine!
