I have gave up alcohol since before Christmas, doing well staying dry
My questions is can withdrawal from alcohol cause pain in joints, I am really struggling with pain, I had to roll onto floor this morn to get out of bed I am taking tegratol co cod/ and now been given diflofenici am not that old 51, but I am so sore with all these pains and I think my gp thinks it because of the alcohol token in the past, bloods show no sigh of arthritis ? at a loss at to what is causing it? Thank you for any help. Missy

May I congratulate you, missy, on keeping off the alcohol and staying dry, and send you my best wishes to get this matter resolved.

Certainly not enough information here and i am going to make a few suppositions which i hope will not be too wide of the mark.
With what you have described and the association of Carpal Tunnel antigen negative R.ASyndrome, I would assume that you have Rheumatoid Arthritis and probably other related conditions.
You are also taking anti-inflammatories. e.g Diclofenac .
Blood tests for R.A factors were negative.
I have no idea as to yopu alcohol consumption before withdrawal.
This sounds like an acute exacerbation of R.A (flare up) whichis quite common in this disorder even though the blood tests were reported upon as "normal". Antigen neg R.A is well known and recognised.
I cannot see any association between your alcohol withdrawal and your symptoms.
You do not say as to what dosage of Diclenfenac that you are taking and what type.
I assume that it is the immediate release (look on the box) and if so, then 50mgms three or 4 times a day would be a reasonable dose.
These flare ups may last for 2-3 weeks.
As YogiBear said at 21.54....your GP knows you well ( I assume) and may be better placed to give the bigger picture ( if there is a bigger picture).

Good morning Sqad. Thank you for your input much appreciated I have just been put on difloflex 50mg 3 times a day lyrical twice a day and kapake two tabs up to 4 times a day..
I drank about a couple of bottle of wine a night for a good few years , about 7yrs. I don't think its to do with alcohol. I just started difloflex yesterday, this has been going on for about 5wks, I did sleep very slightly better last night and not as sore. Many thanks Missy. if you need info let me know.
