Don't know in which section this belongs so will try it out here and no doubt will be told if its not right!

An aunt (now dead and about whom I know very little) was awarded an MBE for services to nursing in the New Years Honours Lists, probably during the 1950's. Can anyone suggest where I could view the lists of recipients for that period in the chance of finding out a bit more about her through this connection.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Thanks, DotH and jno for your suggestions.
I went into the London Gazette website but the Honours lists on-line did not go back as far as the 50's. I also e-mailed my request to them and received a reply that personal enquiries could take weeks to answer!

Sphinx_Svens, nice of you to extend your sympathy!!
If you can get to the Guildhall library you may find the info there.

Thanks for that, DotH, but this particular hillwalker lives in the highlands of Scotland.
