Ex Blackpool and England defender Jimmy Armfield has died age 82. He spent his entire playing career at the seaside club and captained his country 15 times. I don't recall having seen him play and i never met him but, by all accounts, he was a very skillful right back and a true gentleman. RIP.

Not old enough to have seen him play, but always enjoyed listening to him on the radio. RIP x
RIP Jimmy.
Certainly one of the old school, I believe that he was injured through out the 66 World Cup.

Yes he was, Tony, but he did belatedly pick up a winner's medal in 2009 after a decision to award medals to ALL the squad and not just those who actually played.
Thanks for that, Ken.
Glad he got a medal after all that time.
Typically he said - 'I can't say it's something that's been bothering me'
