For the past couple of months I have been suffering from a fungus on my scalp. Fortunately, after using shampoo prescribed by my doctor, the fungus has cleared. Would it be better to use Head and Shoulders shampoo or carry on using Tee Tree oil shampoo

Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo is very good for keeping anything at bay.
Try Coal Tar shampoo, brilliant stuff!
I find head and shoulders particularly harsh on my scalp. stick with tea tree or try an aloe vera shampoo - holland and barratt sell a good one
Ratter, I think I am the only person who actually likes the smell of coal tar shampoo! I used to get it on prescription
I have to ask... what's fungus on the scalp?
Coal Tar shampoo is hard to buy nowadays.
What cause fungus on the scalp? I have never heard of that.
Anti-fungal shampoos (eg Nizoral) are usually used to clear the condition up, but are often used at less frequent intervals to keep the condition under control....say, every 2 or 3 weeks.
I was once prescribed Selsun by a former doctor, which was serious stuff. Then years later another doctor prescribed (as Always Confused said) the excellent Coal Tar Shampoo, however I have found Head & Shoulders far too harsh. There was also a tv programme about phoney H&S shampoos burning peoples scalps ! I hastily threw my supply out.
For info: dandruff conditions can be caused by yeast-like fungus (malassezia) which these shampoos can successfully control. I've had them prescribed for me and continue to use them much less frequently.

H&S stopped working for me when they started changing how it smelt, silver jubilee year. Might have been coincidental but I've not trusted it since. There are plenty of adequate shampoos out there if you have issues; all expensive. My advice is to try a basic shampoo first, but if the problem returns, go for one of those expensive ones mentioned above.
Personally I tend to buy T-Gel now-a-days, and use it regularly.
