The Tories are completely at war on this. Its tearing them apart, exactly as predicted. None of them dare turn their backs, for a moment, in case a dagger is plunged in.
They are behaving like cats in a sack !

Morning mikey! I agree with you and Zac. This is all about the Conservative Party and i agree they are in turmoil. I also agree with Zac in that the split of opinion in the Cabinet reflects the diversity of opinion in the country as a whole and i will never be convinced that the majority of the electorate knew for what they were voting, either in the long term or the...

Quite correct. AB is a bit biased when debating politics as, by default, the people who do so are interested in said subject. Most of the population simply see and hear media criticism of all the bad things and voted leave as a protest against ‘the system’, giving it about as much (or possibly even less) thought as whether to have a KFC or a Maccy D.

or - delphically:
"I nevva knew what the Betrayal of Yalta (1) ever was but by god we are undergoing the Betrayal of Paris, Berlin and Strasbourg "
(1) betrayal of yalta was in 1945 where the Brits connived at sending the liberated eastern european peoples back east and straight into stalinz gulags.

Mrs May is still trying to do what she was trying from the very start of Brexit. To do it all herself without letting even her own ministers know what she is aiming for. Yet again she is ignoring calls by her own party to let them know what she wants/expects from the EU & Brexit. A No Confidence vote gets nearer by the day.
I suspect most parties are split on the Brexit issue. Even those with a dominant position will have dissenters.
May has a priority to hold the party together so opts to seem to hold a middle line, creating suspicion from both sides. In effect saying one thing about getting out yet doing another by agreeing to all EU demands.
That situation is presently impossible. She needs to either go, or start walking the walk that she only presently talks; let the remainers complain futiley, and gradually fade into history, to reunite with the rest of the party later down the line when they've finally accepted democracy.

A more accurate sentence would be "parliament is completely at war". As ZM has pointed out a few times Labour are just as divided and as the opposition and such an important issue they should be far stronger.
Theresa the Appeaser is useless. She needs to go.

I'm not actually sure I agree with the argument that Labour are "just as divided." Certainly there are disagreements within the party, but there is very little ambiguity over who controls the party.
The reason for this isn't necessarily that Labour is better-led, but you always have to remember that Labour's civil war has already been fought and won, largely over the issue of Brexit. The most serious attempt possible to replace Corbyn already took place in its most recent leadership election, and the party's gains in the GE cemented the leadership's position pretty well. Nobody is in any serious position to challenge the leadership.
The Conservatives seem to have at least 3 different power bases within the party: hardline Brexiteers ("led" by JRM and manipulated by Johnson), Disgruntled modernisers/Remainers (rallying behind Hammond but controlled behind the scenes by Heseltine), and the core leadership desperately struggling to mediate (May and the 1922 committee). All except the third are itching for a fight - and the latter are against it because everyone knows they will lose. The Party never properly fought out its leadership contest, so everyone is on the verge of scrambling for it.

Oh, and vague because many of the questions posed to them by folk demanding answers will be settled at the negotiation table, so it's ridiculous to demand answers beforehand. The aim is to have as close a trade relationship with the EU, and the rest of the world, as is compatible with regaining sovereignty. Simples.
