Draft Stopping Curtain Without Rail? - Or Alternative?

We live in an old cottage and have a small entry way where our front door is. The area is around 1.5m by 1.5m. Then you step through a door frame and you’re in the living room.

The door lets in a lot of outside air.

Can I buy anything curtain-esque to stop the draft without needing to fit a curtain rail?

Lots of Draught Stopping Curtains on Amazon but they all appear to need a Rail.

You may manage with a portiere rod - they usually fit above a door but you may be ok using it in the door frame.

Have a look at some.

Not sure if by fitting you mean drilling and using screws.....I couldn't do that with my hall door so I used a spring loaded rod.....that's my only thought, LittleSquidge.....x

If the curtain is not too heavy you could try stretchy curtain wire on the part of the wooden frame that is not the door. That’s what I have done, using Ikea curtains, (and being lazy, have ‘hemmed’ them with safety pins).
You have to pull it to one side every time you go in and out of the room, but it is not a big deal.
The advantage with the stretchy wire is that you can dismantle it in the warmer months, and the two little hooks/eyes are barely noticeable, - the curtain going into a cupboard till winter.
I have also stuffed hessian coffee sacks with old pillows as a floor/door draught excluder.

Difficult to know how you'd keep the curtain up without a rail. Could try drawing pins or nails, I suppose. Been wanting to put one up, too. Both front and back doors are draughty. But not got around to it. One can get rails that draw the curtain back as you open the door.

Assuming the property is yours, is not a replacement door or at least a major repair/modification the best solution ?

Why not try a door seal such as adhesive foam strips, simple to fit

A couple of years ago I was in B&Q and on whim bought the seal stuff. Got back home to see the doors already had that, for all the good it was doing.
