If you think this is bad you should have seen Newcastle City Council in the 1960s. The council leader and a few of his cronies ended up in the clink. Google The Poulson Affair for more info.

Our Council (Stoke-on-Trent) have form here as well.

They paid for two massive new office blocks to be constructed in the city, with the intention of moving out of their relatively new accommodation into one of them, leaving their existing building to rot no doubt.

There was such a public outcry that they had to stay put, and one of the buildings is empty, and the other has one tenant - a water company - at an introductory rate.

You'd like to think that these people know what they are doing - but it's ever more obvious - they just don't.
