Child Maintenance Advice

A friend of mine is divorced from her kids’ Dad but hasn’t received any child maintenance from him in 6 months. He has PLENTY of funds (drives a Maserati, owns a couple of unmortgaged properties, rents a 5-bedroomed house etc.) but, as she is taking him to court to get sole custody after he assaulted her in front of them, he says he won’t give her any money to “use in court against him”. He hasn’t worked in 6 months so when the judge asks him why he’s not paid he just says he isn’t working and can’t afford it. This is patently untrue but the judge just takes his word for it. CSA can’t get involved as he isn’t working so can’t do an attachment of earnings (or whatever it is).

Does she have any other recourse at all to get him to pay up?

Ask her to contact Women's Aid they have access to lawyers / advisory services .
She needs a good lawyer...his lifestyle and assets will be investigated
Contact a lawyer as they can use powers to force this man to disclose assets he is hiding. As he has been less than honest....I am sure a judge will award your costs against him too
In my experience it's a waste of time.

Thanks all. If I’d thought this through I knew the answer really. Thing is she’s not entitled to free legal support and has spent £26k on legal fees in the last year alone fighting him in court. Any money she could recover from him would just be spent on legal fees anyway.
