Yes it's selfish, especilly since those who are left to wonder what was going on in the head of the dead person aren't allowed to voice their opinion in polite company even though they're the ones having to deal with it. They just have to mouth the usual stuff to keep the peace.
It’s a very complicated subject and depends on the persons last thoughts I suppose. When you’re in a dark depression place filled with pain sometimes they think that they’re actually helping those around them that they think they were burdening, others see it as a big f*** you to those they’ve hated not thinking about those that would miss them.
I saw a YouTube video of golden gate jumpers who immediately regretted jumping but survived and as they let go thought W.TF HAve I done.
Life’s full of dips and lows and I feel sad at those who have felt the need to lull themselves as no doubt things would have got better at some point.
no it's not selfish, depression is a hideous horrible thing and can be completely and totally overwhelming. My niece committed suicide and whilst I'd prefer she was around still, I understand why and don't think her selfish at all, her life was a constant battle and she was in so much pain she just wanted it to stop. I just wish she didn't have to die in such a horribly painful way.
