I self certified myself I’ll with this darned fly thing and then got a doctors note for a further week
My employer says they will not be paying me ?!?!! Is this legal ?

Well it is very hard to self certify someone else !
Does the company have a sickpay scheme and do they normally pay sick pay? If you are seeking statutory sick pay are they saying you won't get that?
I suggest you ask your employer for clarification of the reasons and then post them here for comments
when I queried this for a neighbour
the wages clerk said brightly
oh we pay SSP but not his normal wages !
and I said Oh or
I thought so

dave if your employer is this icky then you really should join a union. You need its protection
